Aaron Rodgers‘ final pass of the NFL season was a pick-six to the Houston Texans while he stood in stunned silence at home in Pittsburgh.
Following the game, Mike Tomlin, whom he had grown close to, stepped down from his position as head coach of the Steelers. Rodgers allegedly apologized to Tomlin in the locker room after his decision, breaking down in tears.
All signs point to Rodgers either retiring this offseason or moving to a new team for a final shot at a second Lombardi Trophy.
But one Steelers player who just hung up the cleats himself is already talking about coming back for one more year if Rodgers surprises everyone and plays a second year in Pittsburgh.

More news: Aaron Rodgers’ Future with the Pittsburgh Steelers Decided: Report
On Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take,” recently retired wide receiver Adam Thielen says that, although his family would disapprove, playing with Rodgers for one more season might have him running back onto the field.
“I think my wife hopes he retires because if he doesn’t, I might come out of retirement,” said the former Vikings wideout. “He can still do it for sure. I think for him it’s gonna come down to, I would imagine, I don’t wanna speak for him, but it’ll come down to just whether he wants to or not.”
Thielen was granted a mutual release by the Vikings in the middle of the 2025 season, with the longtime player wanting one more attempt at getting a ring. The Steelers made the playoffs, and brought in as a depth piece, the veteran provided more than he was ever expected to when he first signed. Rodgers used Thielen as his most steady receiver and consistently went to him when the Steelers needed a first down.
Ironically enough, if Rodgers doesn’t retire, the team most linked to him is the Minnesota Vikings, which discussed bringing in the future Hall of Famer last year. But they decided against it to give J.J. McCarthy space to be a starter without feeling like he could be replaced at any time by Rodgers.
Hey, maybe if Rodgers does go to the Vikings, Thielen can kill two birds with one stone: retire with the team he’s a legend for, and have a chance at a Super Bowl.
