DICKSON CITY, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Police in Lackawanna County are investigating a major retail theft at a Home Depot store in Dickson City that authorities say may be connected to a similar incident reported earlier this week in Monroe County.
According to the Dickson City Police Department, officers are working a case involving merchandise valued at more than $15,000 that was stolen from the local Home Depot. Investigators believe the same suspect may also be responsible for a separate theft at a Home Depot location in Stroudsburg, an incident that was previously reported and highlighted by Fox56.
Police say the suspect targeted both stores in a similar manner, prompting investigators to look at the cases together as part of a broader retail theft investigation. Details about the stolen items have not been released, but authorities confirmed the combined losses are significant.
Officers are now asking for help from the public as they work to identify and locate the person responsible. Anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity at the Dickson City Home Depot or who has information that could assist investigators is urged to contact Patrolman M. Gallagher with the Dickson City Police Department at 570-489-3231, extension 2031.
Police say retail theft cases of this scale often involve organized efforts, and public tips can be critical in helping law enforcement bring investigations to a close.
