Matt Nagy interviewed for the open offensive coordinator with the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday, according to reports.

Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network was the first to report the interview, which was later confirmed by NFL sources to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Nagy, a Manheim Central grad, has been a candidate for several NFL head coaching openings this offseason after completing his third season in his second stint as OC of the Kansas City Chiefs. Earlier this week, he was one of the finalists to be the Tennessee Titans head coach, and reportedly the frontrunner, before the team hired Robert Saleh.

Nagy also has interviewed with the Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens and Las Vegas Raiders. Those positions remain open.

His contract with the Chiefs is expiring.

McLane reported on X, formerly Twitter, that Nagy would have play-calling authority with the Eagles, unlike he’s had under Andy Reid in Kansas City.

Nagy began his professional coaching career as an intern with the Philadelphia Eagles under Reid in 2008. After two seasons in that role, he was an offensive quality control coach for the Eagles.

After Reid was fired in Philadelphia, Nagy followed him to Kansas City. He was the quarterbacks coach for two seasons, then offensive coordinator for two before being hired as head coach of the Chicago Bears.

Nagy went 34-31 in four seasons in Chicago, making the playoffs twice and winning one NFC North title. He was the NFL Coach of the Year in 2018. He was fired after the Bears went 6-11 in 2021.

He rejoined the Chiefs as a senior assistant and quarterbacks coach in 2022 before being elevated back to offensive coordinator in 2023.

He was part of two Super Bowl-winning teams in Kansas City.

Nagy is the eighth reported candidate for the Eagles’ job, which opened when Kevin Patullo was fired earlier this month.

One of those candidates, former Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel, is expected to be hired as the offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Chargers, according to multiple reports. He did not have an interview with Philadelphia.

Former New York Giants coach Brian Daboll interviewed with Philadelphia on Tuesday. He is a candidate to be the head coach of the Buffalo Bills. If he doesn’t get that job, according to a report in The Athletic, he prefers the Tennessee Titans’ OC position.

The other reported Eagles offensive coordinator candidates are Jim Bob Cooter (Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator), Josh Grizzard (former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator), Mike Kafka (former Giants interim head coach/OC), Zac Robinson (Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator) and Bobby Slowik (Miami Dolphins senior pass game coordinator).
