On Thursday at 1:20 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a lake effect snow warning in effect until Friday at 1 p.m. for Wyoming and Erie counties.
The weather service says to anticipate, “Heavy lake effect snow and blowing snow. Additional snow accumulations 8 to 14 inches in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will produce significant blowing and drifting snow.”
“Travel will be very difficult with snow covered roads and very poor visibility at times. The hazardous conditions will impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes,” states the weather service. “Heavy snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities.”
