Come Sunday, March 29, United Airlines will offer daily nonstop service between Pittsburgh and Los Angeles.
United’s service is the third such flight connecting Pittsburgh International Airport to Los Angeles International Airport, joining American Airlines and Breeze Airways, according to the Allegheny County Airport Authority’s Blue Sky News.
“This flight addition by United shows the strength of the Pittsburgh market and we’re pleased to welcome United’s investment in Pittsburgh with another West Coast destination from PIT,” Bryan Dietz, PIT’s senior vice president of air service and commercial development, told Blue Sky News.
“Los Angeles is an important destination for both business and leisure passengers as well as a connecting point for flights to Asia and Australia. This flight gives our market more options to the West Coast and beyond.”
According to United’s website, a five-day, round-trip Basic Economy ticket with a Sunday, March 29, departure is $592. That being said, the price drops significantly — down to $311 — come the following weekdays. At the time of writing, weekday prices remain that low until mid-May, when they reach about $350 and linger there for the rest of the year.
A similar flight from American Airlines is listed at $520, with prices increasing later in the week. American also offers daily service.
Breeze’s website shows no nonstop flights between PIT and LAX, and it flies between the two cities only on Sundays and Thursdays. A round-trip flight to LAX departing on Sunday, March 29, is $531 and includes a three-and-a-half hour layover at New Orleans’ Louis Armstrong International Airport.
