READING, Pa. – In anticipation of the upcoming winter storm, Reading officials are teaming up with the Reading Parking Authority to provide temporary parking accommodations.

The move will allow for more effective snow removal and ensure public safety, according to officials.

All city-owned parking garages will be open to the public from noon Saturday through 7 a.m. Tuesday, according to a news release.

City officials say this measure is intended to reduce on-street parking, allowing Public Works crews to safely and efficiently clear the streets. This applies to parking garages only; surface parking lots are not included.

The 6th & Cherry parking lot will be reserved exclusively for approved emergency vehicles during this period, officials said. This lot will not be open to the public to support emergency response operations throughout the storm.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to use the available garages and assist in keeping city streets clear.

The Reading Parking Authority is working in coordination with the city of Reading, Mayor Moran’s Office, and the Department of Public Works.Â
