Scranton Prep and Abington Heights are headed back to the PIAA Golf Team Championships after both won their respective District 2-4 Eastern Subregional on Tuesday at Williamsport Country Club.
The Cavaliers earned the right to defend their Class 2A state title with a 290-338 victory over Towanda. Brendan Bell led the way, shooting a 4-under-par 67. Cole Powell followed with a 1-under 70.
Meanwhile, the Comets downed Jersey Shore, 312-329, in the Class 3A subregional. Ryan Boyd carded a 2-over 73 to lead the scoring.
Tunkhannock girls also are returning to states after they won their Class 2A subregional, 273-334, over Towanda. Madison Walker shot 78 to pace the Lady Tigers, who placed second in the state last year.
District 2 Class 3A champ Abington Heights automatically qualified for the state tournament since there was no subregional qualifier from District 4.
