PALMER TWP., Pa. – A crash near the Route 33 overpass in Palmer Township, Northampton County led to a large emergency response early Thursday morning.
It happened on Main St. near the Route 33 overpass around 4:43 a.m., county dispatchers said.
After a scene assessment, Palmer Municipal Fire Department said that the incident upgraded to a motor vehicle accident with entrapment, and requested Forks Fire for additional assistance.
Due to the vehicle’s position, the operational plan required a full roof removal and dash lift, according to fire officials.
Palmer Township fire crews worked alongside Forks Fire and extracted the passenger of the vehicle, transferring patient care to EMS within 28 minutes, the fire department said.
Two people were transported to the hospital via ambulance after an SUV and tractor trailer collided, according to Palmer Township police.

They said the crash led to a large emergency response that includes police, fire, and EMS crews.

The severity of the injuries of those involved are unknown at this time.
