ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A Macungie man was sentenced Thursday to serve up to five years in state prison for a 2023 assault that led to the death of an Allentown man.

Hosheem Klotz, 33, was sentenced by Judge Thomas M. Caffrey to serve 30 to 60 months in state prison for involuntary manslaughter, according to the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office. A jury convicted Klotz of the charge on Dec. 11, 2025.

In addition to the manslaughter charge, Caffrey ordered Klotz to serve a consecutive sentence of 18 months to nearly five years for a probation violation.

On March 9, 2023, Allentown police were called to the area of North 10th and Linden streets for the report of an unconscious man in the street.

Police and paramedics found the victim, Mastapha Brown, seated on the curb. At the time, he was conscious and speaking, according to officials.

A witness told officers on scene that Brown, 38, of Allentown, was assaulted by a man later identified as Klotz.

Investigators used video surveillance to determine that Klotz and Brown had been involved in an argument at a restaurant on North 10th Street. According to officials, Klotz dragged Brown outside and struck him multiple times, eventually hitting the victim’s head against the road.

Brown was later taken to an area hospital and was admitted with head trauma, the DA’s Office said. On March 13, 2023, Brown died from his injuries that included blunt force trauma and his death was ruled a homicide by the Lehigh County Corner.
