Weshly Rosario scored 26 points and Jostin DeCastro added 20 as Reading High defeated Muhlenberg in a battle of BCIAA Division front runners on Thursday night.
The Red Knights (13-5 overall) pulled into a tie with the Muhls (14-4) for second place in Division 1 with 7-2 records. Berks Catholic leads the division at 8-1.
Reading High bolted to a 23-13 lead after the first quarter as Jay Merriweather and Rosario each scored 6 points on two 3-pointers and DeCastro had 5 points.
The Red Knights extended the lead to 40-24 at halftime with Jamier Jacob scoring 6 points.
In the third quarter, the Muhls clawed back into the game to trail by seven, 52-45, entering the last quarter. Eli Hemmings had 11 of his team-high 21 points in the quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Rosario made 8 free throws and DeCastro 6 as Reading High held off the Muhls. Rosario scored 10 points and DeCastro 8 in the final period.
Muhlenberg outscored Reading High 23-22 in the final period, but the Red Knights made their free throws to secure the win. In the fourth quarter, Hemmings had 8 points and Jadan Perez 6 for the Muhls.
Jacob finished with 10 points for Reading, and L.J. Armstrong and Nelson Malave each had 10 for the Muhls.
Berks Catholic 64, Gov. Mifflin 33
Kingston McKoy scored 22 points as Berks Catholic held on to first place in Division 1 with a 64-33 win over Gov. Mifflin on Thursday night.
The Saints are 8-1 in Division 1 and 14-2 overall. The Mustangs drop to 8-9, 2-7 Division 1.
Wilson 55, Exeter 51
Correll Akings scored 13 points and Peter Kelafalla had 10 as Wilson scored a 55-51 BCIAA win over Exeter on Thursday night.
The Bulldogs improve to 12-6 overall, 6-3 Division 1. Exeter falls to 11-7, 5-4 Division 2.
For the Eagles, Aidan Dauble had 17 points.
