Richard A. Riegel
OBITUARY
Richard A. Riegel, 89, formerly of Leesport, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 in the Reading Hospital. He was taken there from Sinking Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation where he resided. Richard was the husband of Patricia A. (Reis) Riegel, who died June 25, 2013.
Born in Mohrsville, he was the son of the late Oral and Laura (Kalbach) Riegel. Richard worked as a cabinet sprayer at Quaker Maid Kitchens. He was a member of the Goodwill, Leesport and Temple Fire Companies. His ’56 Chevy was his pride and joy. Richard enjoyed hunting and sitting on his porch with the neighbors drinking coffee. Even though Richard was an Oakland A’s fan, he would watch the Phillies since the A’s were never on television.
Richard is survived by two daughters: Sherry L. (Riegel) Dautrich, wife of Lester, Centerport; and Lisa A. (Riegel) Zimmerman, wife of Rob, Bern Twp., two grandchildren: Nicole Ruppert and Tyler Dautrich; and two great-grandchildren: Owen and Zoey. He is also survived by his brother: Norman Riegel, husband of Nancy, Hamburg. Richard was predeceased by his siblings: Marvin Riegel and Arlene Sweitzer.
Services will be held on Saturday at 12:30 pm at Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Saturday 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial
