Raymond Archibald

OBITUARY

Raymond Archibald, 91, of Scranton and a resident of Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center, died Tuesday morning following an illness.

Born May 15, 1934, in Scranton, Raymond was the son of the late John and Emma (Yeager) Archibald. He served his country as a member of the United States Army during the 1950s, earning a Good Conduct Medal for his service.

Raymond was a graduate of Johnson Technical College and was employed for many years as a home improvement contractor. He was a member of the first Elk Mountain Ski Patrol and served for many years thereafter.

An avid outdoorsman, Raymond enjoyed huntingparticularly bow huntingas well as hiking, camping, photographing nature, and found great joy in traveling throughout the United States and Canada. He was also a skilled landscape oil painter.

He is survived by his sister, Carol Kozar of Moscow; his niece and caregiver, Doreen Healey and husband James of Scranton; and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lenore McGuire, Wilma Weber, and Mary Colosimo.

Raymond was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Scranton.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 238 Reese Street, Scranton, PA, with Rev. John Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be conducted privately at Evergreen Cemetery in Dickson City.
