A 19-year-old was killed Thursday evening in shooting in an Allentown alley, authorities said.
Shots were fired just after 9 p.m. in the 500 block of Carrot Street, an alley behind Washington Street.
The man was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg in Bethlehem, where he was pronounced dead just before 10 p.m. Thursday, the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office said.
An autopsy is scheduled for later Friday. The manner of death was ruled a homicide by Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio.
The coroner’s office has identified the deceased but is not releasing the man’s name until the family has time to grieve, Buglio said.
Pamela Lehman, spokeswoman for the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, told lehighvalleylive.com Friday morning no suspects were in custody.
Authorities have not said what led up to the shooting or if anyone else was injured in the gunfire. Allentown Police Captain Michael Becker, Jr. couldn’t immediately be reached for more details Friday morning.
Thursday’s incident remains under investigation by the Allentown Police Department; Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office; Lehigh County Homicide Task Force; and the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.
