The man police said was responsible for killing an Erie High student 10 minutes after school let out in December of 2024 and shooting another student in the head has pleaded guilty.

Jamarion Boone, 18, made that plea just before jury selection for his trial was set to begin Thursday.

According to Chief Deputy District Attorney Jeremy Lightner, Boone is pleading guilty to the first-degree murder of Armoni Cantu at West 31st and Liberty Streets, as well as the attempted murder of another teenager, who was shot in the head and seriously injured.

Boone was 17 at the time of the incident, meaning he’s not automatically given the mandatory life sentence for murder.

He faces a minimum of 35 years before parole, but could be behind bars for life.

Lightner said all three other people involved in the drive-by shooting of Cantu agreed to testify in court against Boone.
