SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Lackawanna County officials have announced the temporary closure of all county parks in advance of an expected winter storm set to impact the region this weekend.
County parks will close at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25, including McDade Park in Scranton, Covington Park in Moscow, Merli-Sarnoski Park in Mayfield, and Aylesworth Park in Jermyn. Officials say the parks will remain closed and unstaffed through at least noon on Monday, Jan. 26.
The closures are being implemented as a precautionary measure due to anticipated hazardous weather conditions, which could include heavy snowfall and dangerous travel.
County leaders are urging residents to avoid park facilities during the closure period and to continue monitoring weather forecasts and official county announcements for updates on reopening times.
