Keith Robinson’s production was massive Tuesday evening, though it ultimately came in defeat. Robinson, the Bluehawks’ elite scorer, tallied a game-high 28 points, but Hudson dropped a 53-49 road decision at Bethlehem in a clash of state-ranked squads.
“It was a lesson. (Bethlehem) is a top-notch team and they played elite-level defense,” Robinson said. “To go out there and lose only by four, it was an excellent game and we could have won it. We didn’t shy away at all.”

Hudson (10-2), ranked No. 13 statewide in Class A, had its 10-game winning streak snapped. The Bluehawks opened the season with a 63-52 loss against No. 5 ranked Red Hook. Bethlehem (11-1) is rated No. 18 in Class AA.
Robinson is averaging 31.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game this season. The senior star is also shooting 62% from the field. He has now scored 2,334 career points, which currently ranks him sixth all-time in Section 2. By the end of the month, the senior guard could surpass Chris Ciaccio (Gloversville, 2,373 points) and Jimmer Fredette (Glens Falls, 2,404 points) to assume the No. 4 slot.
“It has been great to watch him grow since I have had him since eighth grade,” Hudson coach Shawn Briscoe said. “To see the level of maturity and his ability to get better each year has been impressive. Every year, he has found different ways to improve his game, whether it be to knock (down) the outside shot better or becoming a better facilitator or leader. He has just been able to continually get better every year. He is definitely a huge part of our program.”

“Stacking on the work, it continues to show. I just want team success,” Robinson said. “The individual accolades are also impressive, and it feels good, but at the end of the day, I just want to win. We haven’t won sectionals since I have been on varsity. This is my senior year, so I am trying to get the win.”

Robinson has improved throughout his career as both a foul shooter and a 3-point shooter.
“I worked on my free throws. That is a big part of things being the point guard. I have got to knock down the free throws,” Robinson said. “With the outside shot, whenever I see a hand down, I know I can shoot it and I have the confidence to be able to make it.”
Earlier this season, Robinson poured in 46 points in a 92-58 win against Catskill, ranked No. 18 in Class B, and tallied 41 points in a 73-53 decision over Greenville.

“He has a knack for and an ability to score,” Briscoe said. “He has really become a three-level scorer at this point in being able to get to the hoop, hit from mid-range and knock down the outside shot. He really does a lot of things for us offensively.”
Robinson has a scholarship offer from Bryant, an America East rival of the University at Albany. He is also considering playing a year at the prep level before beginning his college career.
Right now. Robinson wants to lead the Bluehawks to another Patroon Conference title and a top seed for the Class A sectionals. A deep playoff run could vault the Hudson star up to the No. 2 position behind Joseph Girard III on the Section 2 all-time scoring list.
