(WTAJ) — Extreme snowfall in Pennsylvania Sunday has forced school districts around Central Pennsylvania to rethink the start of the school week.
On Friday, Jan. 23, the Altoona Area School District was one of the first to announce Monday, Jan. 26, would be a flexible day — and the snowball effect began.
With more than a foot of snow predicted in some areas of Central PA, schools around the region began making the call to cancel school or switch to a digital day. Some, including Altoona, have rescheduled multiple sporting events that were scheduled for Monday after school.

In addition to schools and after-school events, other places are announcing their closure on Monday, including Blair/Clearfield Association for the Blind, Center for Community Action and Ganister Station Adult Day Service, to name a few.
