Joyce Morrow Hastie

OBITUARY

Joyce Morrow Hastie, 71, of Scranton, passed away on January 16, 2026. She was born on January 5, 1955, and lived a life defined by creativity, compassion, and a deep care for others.

Joyce was a graduate of West Scranton High School and attended Penn State University. She had a lifelong love of art and photography, with an eye for detail and beauty that often went unnoticed by others. Through her creativity, she found meaningful ways to express herself and connect with the world around her.

She is survived by her daughter, Sierra Hastie; her grandson, Logan J. Kripp; her sister, Rose Beck; and many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. Joyce is also remembered by countless individuals whose lives she touched through the years she spent sponsoring and supporting people in AA recovery. Her guidance, empathy, and steady presence made a lasting difference for many.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Dolan Morrow; her brothers, Dolan, Carl, and Robert Morrow; and her sisters, Alice, Janet, and Shirley.

She also leaves behind a very specific and well-documented legacy: an unwavering love of cats and Morgan Wallen. Joyce believed there was no problem, bad day, or minor inconvenience that couldnt be improved by a steady stream of funny cat videos, often sent with impressive consistency and zero warning. If you received one, you were thought of, possibly several times a day. In between her cat-video deliveries, Joyce could be found tagging family members in Morgan Wallen music videos she shared to her Facebook stories, making sure no one missed a song she loved. It was her way of staying connected, spreading joy, and gently insisting that you, too, needed more cats and more Morgan Wallen in your life.

Joyce Morrow Hastie will be remembered for her artistic spirit, her generosity, her quiet support of others, and the warmth she shared with family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to know her.
