Dangerously low wind chills, low temperatures and heavy snow are in the forecast for Erie and Crawford counties Jan. 24-25. The National Weather Service has a winter storm warning issued for both counties from 7 p.m. Jan. 24 until 1 p.m. Jan. 26. In fact, every county in Pennsylvania is under a winter storm warning or winter storm watch.

Most departures from and arrivals at Erie International Airport have been affected, as have Jan. 25 hours for all Fine Wine & Good Spirits locations across the state.
Here are the latest details about the Erie area’s part in the winter storm sweeping across the country this weekend.
Erie International Airport flight cancellations
All remaining American Airlines flights between Charlotte and Erie International Airport have been canceled as of 11:20 a.m. Jan. 24, according to the airport’s flight tracker. The Breeze Erie-Orlando route is so far unaffected.

American arrivals 5909 (5:24 p.m.) and 5857 (10:43 p.m.) on Jan. 24 have been canceled, as have all three scheduled arrivals Jan. 25.
American flight 5909 on Jan. 24, meant to depart for Charlotte Douglas International Airport at 5:49 p.m., has been cancelled, as have all three scheduled American departures Jan. 25.
Breeze flight 818 is scheduled to arrive from Orlando Jan. 24 at 7:25 p.m. Breeze 819 is scheduled to depart for Orlando at 8:05 p.m. Jan. 24.

Winter storm warning for Erie County
The weather service expects 7 inches to 10 inches of snow across Erie and Crawford counties between the night of Jan. 24 and 1 p.m. Jan. 26. Locations including Corry and Edinboro have forecasts for up to 15 inches over the duration of the warning.
Snowfall is expected to be at its most intense during the daytime hours of Jan. 25.
Travel could be difficult at times because of road conditions and limited visibility, the weather service cautioned. That could include the morning commute Jan. 26.
Wind chills below zero are forecast overnight Jan. 24 and again Jan. 25. The weather service reported a recorded air temperature reading of minus 7.1 degrees just before 7 a.m. Jan. 24 ― bitterly cold, but well shy of the record of minus 15 recorded in 1963.

The weather service forecast for Erie and nearby areas calls for partly sunny skies and a high temperature around 11 degrees Jan. 24. The wind-chill value will be as low as minus 14 at times.

The night of Jan. 24 will see rising temperatures, to around 13 by 4 a.m. However, wind chill will remain very low, down to minus 3 at times. Light snow is possible.
On Jan. 25, snow is expected, mainly after 7 a.m. and heavy at times. Accumulation of 3 inches to 5 inches is possible around Erie, and up to 7 inches in Corry and Edinboro. The high will be around 20, with winds from the east at around 10 mph.
An additional 3 inches to 5 inches of snow is likely the night of Jan. 25, when the low will be around 13.

On Jan. 26, an inch to 2 inches of snow is possible around Erie before the warning starts to phase out. Winds will be from the west at 10 mph to 17 mph and the high near 15. The nighttime low will be around 3, starting a week of temperatures in the teens for daytime highs and single-digit lows at night.
