Local colleges make schedule changes for Monday amid major snowstorm

Colleges in the Western Pennsylvania area announced changes to their schedules for Monday amid heavy snowfall in the region. There will be no in-person classes for Pitt on Monday. The university sent a message through its emergency notification system Sunday to advise students of the change. Only essential staff are asked to report to campus.Duquesne University said all classes on Monday, Jan. 26, will be held remotely, and offices will be staffed remotely. The university said essential workers should report as normally scheduled. Point Park University said it will operate on a flexible/remote learning schedule. Students, staff, and faculty should check their Point Park email for more information. In addition, Carlow University will operate remotely on Monday, while Chatham University said all will be remote on Sunday, Jan. 25, and Monday, Jan. 26. Robert Morris University and CCAC have both canceled classes. All day and evening classes are canceled. Later Sunday night, Carnegie Mellon said Monday courses should be conducted remotely. Students should contact their instructor if they can’t attend a scheduled class. CMU said while the university will remain open, it advises departments to allow staff members to work from home on Monday, where possible.
