The proposed development is located beside the Spinx off of Fork Shoals Road and Ashmore Bridge Road. It will feature single level rental homes and two or three level apartment buildings which will total around 500 units.
Some community members raised concerns about the rezoning and said it would deplete infrastructure and bring a destructive erosion to the ecosystem which would cause longer droughts and severe wildfires.
City council was split over the rezoning, but it was approved with a vote of four to three. It will go to a second and final reading at a later time.
