An investigation is underway after, officials said, four men were shot, one fatally, in a shooting that happened in a home in North Philadelphia early Monday.
According to Philadelphia Police Department Captain Timothy Stephan, officers were called to a property on the 1700 block of North Croskey Street in North Philadelphia on a report of a shooting at about 4 a.m. on Monday.
Immediately upon arrival, Stephan said, the officers encountered a deceased individual at the front door of the home.
He had been shot several times, the captain said.
Continuing inside the property, he said, officers found three men who had all also suffered gunshot wounds.
He said a 48-year-old man was found after suffering five gunshots to his upper body, a 46-year-old man was discovered after he was shot twice in the stomach and a 54-year-old man was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
All three surviving victims, he said, were taken to a nearby hospital where they were all listed in critical condition.
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing, but Stephan said that police have recovered video that shows the deceased man entering the property shortly before gunfire erupted in the home.
“Someone did enter the property on video. You immediately see a muzzle flash upon that individual entering the property,” he said.
After that man entered the home and gunfire started, Stephan said, no one could be seen exiting the home on the video before police eventually arrived on the scene.
While, he said, an investigation is ongoing, investigators believe the shooting only involved the individuals who were found in the house.
“We’re not looking for anyone else,” said Stephan.
Inside the home, he said, investigators recovered two firearms and live ammunition.
An investigation into how this incident unfolded is still ongoing and, Stephan said, he believes the shooting was an isolated incident and there is not public safety issue following the incident.
