Berks Broadway Cares, an evening of entertainment and generosity, is set for Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Adler Brewing Company, 2210 Hampden Blvd., Reading. Snow date is Feb. 13. Presented by Marabella Enterprises in partnership with the local theater community, Berks Broadway Cares is a fundraiser benefiting Reading Pride Celebration and the LGBT Center of Greater Reading.
The event will feature performances by local theater artists. Proceeds from ticket sales will support programming, community services and advocacy efforts to make Berks County a safer and more welcoming place for LGBTQ+ individuals and families.

The sudSSpirit grief support group for those who have experienced the sudden unexpected death of a spouse or significant other will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Exeter Community Library, 4569 Prestwick Drive. A Christian pet loss support group will be held at St. John’s Reformed Church, 4001 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, on Feb. 2 at 6:45 p.m. The free sessions are led by Dr. Becky Frank, associate veterinarian with Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice. Theology with a Twist
Theology with a Twist presents “Spiritual Warfare and the New Apostolic Reformation” on Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Kutztown Tavern 272 W. Main St. Bradden Weaver, social studies teacher and student of Christian nationalism, will explore the theological ideas, religious practices and identify formation of NAR’s spiritual warfare model that is part of the Christian nationalism reshaping our republic.
The event is free but food and drink can be purchased in the restaurant downstairs and brought up to the event space. Parking is available in the community lot behind the tavern or on Main Street.
Canned goods collection
The Sisters in STEM at the Reading Science Center are collecting canned goods for use in the Canstructure contest. They are engineering a giant sculpture of Bing Bong from “Inside Out” and need 700 cans.
Drop off canned goods by March 11 at the science center, 645 Penn St., or at Muhlenberg Greene Architects, 1268 Penn Ave., Wyomissing. All cans are donated to Helping Harvest after the event.

Fraktur workshop
A Fraktur Valentine workshop will be held Feb. 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Mennonite Heritage Center, 565 Yoder Road, Harleysville. Instructor and artist Emily Smucker-Beidler will introduce fraktur through the history and creation of one of its most popular motifs: hearts.
Participants will choose one of four historic fraktur patterns and learn to make it their own, leaving with a one-of-a-kind valentine for a loved one. Ages 13 and up and all ability levels are welcome.
The cost is $65 for members and $70 for nonmember and includes all materials except watercolors. Students can bring watercolors or buy a set for $20. Preregistration is required and class size is limited. To register visit mhep.org/events or call 215-256-3020 ext. 112.

The Friends of Exeter Community Library are holding their “Sweetheart of a Bag Sale” on Feb. 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the library, 4569 Prestwick Drive, Exeter Township. Snow date is Feb. 21. Buy a bag for $5.
