DeWitt, N.Y. — A former tattoo shop in DeWitt may soon become a take-out deli and convenience store.

The town of DeWitt Planning Board is now reviewing the site plan for the proposed Erie Boulevard Deli.

Owner Nashwan Ahmed said he plans to renovate the building, which operated as Halo Tattoo for several years. The building at 3350 Erie Blvd. E. has been vacant now for some time.

Ahmed said he plans to open a deli specializing in doughnuts, breakfast items, sandwiches, burgers and more for people to take out. He won’t have any interior seating.

He said he also plans to operate a small grocery and convenience store.

So far, he said he hasn’t run into any obstacles and hopes to start remodeling once he gets his approval and building permit.

Ahmed said he hopes to open up before summer.
