Snapshots of the winter storm in Philadelphia

WE HAD EARLIER IN THE DAY, IT COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE ACROSS THE AREA. SO SNOWFALL TOTALS? YEAH. QUITE IMPRESSIVE REALLY, FOR OUR BIGGEST STORM IN FIVE YEARS. IT’S BEEN A WHILE IN ONE DAY. IT’S BEEN SINCE 2017. WE HAD 14IN OR MORE. AND BACK IN 2017 WAS 14.7IN. SO HARRISBURG INTERNATIONAL HAD 14IN. THAT BROKE THE RECORD FOR HARRISBURG INTERNATIONAL. YOU SEE DENVER, WE PICKED UP 13IN RED LION 12IN. WE HAD A FOOT IN LEBANON. WE ALSO HAD ALMOST A FOOT THERE IN MILLERSBURG, DAUPHIN COUNTY. IMAGINE WHAT THESE TOTALS WOULD LOOK LIKE BECAUSE WE HAD SLEET ALL THE WAY UP TO I-81. IF WE HAD JUST PURE SNOW, WE COULD HAVE HAD A LOT MORE SNOW. SO HERE HERE’S THAT FACT THAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. IT’S BEEN A WHILE. LAST SINGLE DAY SNOWFALL TOTAL WITH 14IN OR MORE WAS BACK ON MARCH 14TH, 2017. IT WAS A DAILY RECORD SNOWFALL AS WELL, BREAKING THE RECORD OF 5.4IN. AND THAT’S THE CHALLENGE TODAY. IF YOU HAVE THE TEN 12IN OF SNOW, PLUS A LITTLE BIT OF THAT ICE ICE ON TOP, IF YOU DIDN’T TACKLE ANY OF YOU

PHILADELPHIA —

Nearly ten inches of snow was measured at Philadelphia International Airport on Sunday as one of the biggest winter storms in years hit the region. From cars buried under a snowy blanket and dogs bounding through drifts, to hundreds of sledders racing down the hill at the Philadelphia Art Museum, here are some of the best photos from the day.

A massive winter storm on January 24 dumped snow and freezing rain from New Mexico to North Carolina as it swept across the United States towards the northeast, threatening tens of millions of Americans with blackouts, transportation chaos and bone-chilling cold. After battering the country’s southwest and central areas, the storm system began to hit the heavily populated mid-Atlantic and northeastern states as a frigid air mass settled in across the nation.
