ReAnimator Coffee, a Philadelphia-based coffee roaster, plans to open a sixth location in Mount Airy by spring. The opening will expand the business from its five existing Philly shops in Fishtown, South Kensington, Port Richmond, South Philadelphia, and West Philadelphia.
Founded in 2010 by Mark Capriotti and Mark Corpus, ReAnimator began roasting in a basement before launching its first retail shop in Fishtown in 2013. Capriotti, a Mount Airy resident, said the neighborhood’s demand and community appeal drew the company to expand there.

“I love the neighborhood, and I think it has a good potential customer base for Reanimator Coffee,” Capriotti told the Local. “What I really like about Mount Airy is [the neighborhood feel]. All of our locations are in the neighborhoods of Philadelphia. We really like being in the neighborhoods of the city and just sort of establishing ourselves as or hopefully establishing ourselves as part of the community.”
ReAnimator specializes in specialty coffee. The staff roasts their own beans and offers a menu of specialty lattes, seasonal drinks, single-origin pour-overs, and wholesale-baked pastries from Au Fournil.
ReAnimator also features a rotating selection of coffee blends for sale at its locations, enabling customers to purchase and brew the coffee at home.
Capriotti said he plans to open the Mount Airy location in March, acknowledging that much work is still ahead.
“We’re just excited to sort of bring our version of a coffee shop to that area,” he commented to the Local. “And we’re hoping that the people of Chestnut Hill, Mount Airy, and Germantown like it, and find it to be a nice, fun spot to hang out at.”
