Forecasters are monitoring a possible storm that could bring more snow to the Lehigh Valley for the third weekend in a row.

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey, said there is a potential storm developing off the mid-Atlantic coast that could come to the region this weekend.

Early guidance shows the storm tracking closer to the shore, which means the Poconos and nearby areas could be “spared completely,” meteorologists wrote Tuesday in their daily forecast discussion. The storm would arrive Saturday night and continue into Sunday, and could bring snow and wind.

As of Tuesday, forecasters said there was a 30% chance of snow.

“Overall, it bears watching to see how things shake out over the next few days and how guidance handles the features in the wake of [Sunday’s] storm,” meteorologists said. “What there is high confidence in is that there will be a cold airmass in place, more than sufficient for snow at least at the storm’s onset, if we get it.”

It’s not yet clear how much snow, if any, the area will get.
