Tom Vaccaro
OBITUARY
Tom Vaccaro, a beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on October 17, 2025.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Thomas and Ann DeNunzio Vaccaro. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, Class of 1976, he was the owner and proprietor of Vaccaro Painting.
Tom was a man of remarkable talent, generosity, and heart. A perfectionist by nature, he took great pride in his work as a skilled tradesman – mastering carpentry, painting, and countless other crafts. His creativity and dedication could transform any space into something truly beautiful. Many family members and friends are blessed to live surrounded by his hard work, lasting reminders of his care, craftsmanship, and love.
He had a way of making everyone feel cared for, always the first to lend a helping hand, whether fixing something that needed attention or simply offering support and encouragement. His generosity, humor, and big hearted spirit made him an inspiration to all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to call him family or friend, but his legacy will live on through the beautiful work he left behind – and in the hearts of those he touched. He will be especially missed by his nieces and nephews, who were his world.
Surviving are sisters Diane Vaccaro and brother-in-law Richard Scheller, Dunmore; Barbara Martin and husband William, Illinois; and Lisa Notarianni and husband Anthony, Moscow. Nephews and nieces William Martin Jr. and wife Kendle, Kyle Martin and wife Kristin, Ashley Shah and husband Rushabh, Sara Notarianni, Mia Swift and husband Nicholas, and Tori Notarianni, along with several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Ann Basilica Parish, 1250 St. Ann’s St. Private interment, Italian-American Cemetery. All attending the funeral mass are kindly asked to proceed directly to church. Family and friends may pay their respects Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton.
