ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Allentown’s Director of Public Works is urging people not to throw snow into the street, as he gave an update on snow plowing efforts in the city Tuesday.

Mark Shahda, in a Facebook post, said crews have gotten through the city’s secondary roads. He said crews continue working around the clock and have now moved into alleyways.

Approximately 70% of alleyways have been cleared as of Tuesday morning, Shahda said.

Shahda is asking people to not throw snow into the street. Piling snow in the roadway prevents plows from getting through and requires different equipment to clear it, which slows snow removal for everyone, he said.

If you are experiencing an issue on your street, you can call the Snow Hotline: (610) 437-7669.
