Thomas J. Walsh
OBITUARY
Thomas J. Walsh, 58, died Saturday at Geisinger Community Medical Center from ongoing complications of a rare brain tumor (craniopharyngioma) that was removed in February of 2022.
His wife is Diane Walsh, formerly Gerchman, and the couple celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on October 31st.
Born in Jessup, he was the son of the late Martin Buddy Walsh and Hiroko Higashi. He was a graduate of Valley View High School and later earned his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Marywood College.
Thomas had an impeccable work ethic and throughout his career was part of the management teams at Weis Markets, Walmart and Giant. A lifelong conversationalist, he couldnt go anywhere without running into someone he knew or someone wanting to chat. He loved going out for breakfast, golfing, and spending time with his children.
He was also an active School Board Member of the Lakeland School District for several years and loved attending school and community events.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Lyons, Dr. Jason Yusavage, and Dr. Diego Alvarez and staff for their continued care and unwavering support over the past four years. The family would also like to thank his dear friends Chickie Yanochik and Ellie Barkowski for their countless visits and companionship during his tenuous health complications.
Thomas is survived by his three children, Kyle Walsh, Katie Montefour and husband JJ Montefour, and Colin Walsh and girlfriend Casey Grube, his four siblings, Joseph, Kathleen, and Raymond Walsh, and Maria Zaleski, several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday, January 29th with a blessing service by Sr. Donna Cerminaro at 7:00pm in the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson. Friends may call Thursday, 4-7 p.m.
