Celebrate author John O’Hara
The Local Reads Book Club and the Schuylkill County Historical Society are teaming up Wednesday to celebrate author John O’Hara. The short story “Fatimas and Kisses” will be discussed at 6:30 p.m. at Society headquarters, 305 N. Centre St., Pottsville. Local artists’ exhibit begins Friday
The Members’ Exhibition, one of the biggest Hazleton Art League events of the year, begins with a gallery opening Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Hayden Family Center for the Arts, 31 W. Broad St., Hazleton. The exhibition runs through Feb. 22. A portion of sales will benefit the Art League.
Dorsey brothers’ story told through music
The Anderson Twins Sextet will perform their show “The Fabulous Dorseys” on Saturday at the University of Scranton’s Houlihan-McLean Center, at Mulberry Street and Jefferson Avenue. The Andersons have performed with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, at Carnegie Hall, the New Orleans Jazz Festival and other notable venues and have several television and film credits. The show traces the Dorsey brothers’ story from Scranton roots to fame. The 7:30 p.m. performance is free. Information: scranton.edu/music and peterandwillanderson.com.
New music festival at Pittston restaurants
A new event, Celebrate Music — Pittston, will fill downtown restaurants and bars with live performances Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. A variety of styles are on tap, including acoustic, jazz, blues, folk and rock. Clarks Summit Festival of Ice
The theme for the 22nd annual Clarks Summit Festival of Ice is the 250th anniversary of the United States. The first ice carving is Friday morning. The parade is that evening at 6:30. On Sunday, first responders from Clarks Summit, South Abington Twp., Newton Twp., Ransom Twp. and Dalton will compete in an ice-carving competition. See Facebook and abpacsummit.org/ice-festival-2026.
