L. SAUCON TWP., Pa. – A tractor-trailer fire late Tuesday night snarled traffic on Interstate 78 westbound in Northampton County.
The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. just before Exit 67 for Route 412 – Hellertown/Bethlehem. It reportedly involved a trailer hauling canned tomatoes.
By 11:30 p.m., traffic was backed up for miles westbound, back to about a half mile from the Route 33 entrance ramp onto I-78.
The tractor-trailer had been moved to the shoulder with police and fire crews on the scene, but vehicles were only slowly moving through one lane near the incident.
It is not yet known what caused the fire.
