Philadelphia public schools will fully reopen Thursday, following a three-day cancellation of in-person classes in response to the winter storm that hit the region on Sunday.

Students will not be marked late and may receive an excused absence if they present a note from a parent or guardian, School District of Philadelphia representatives said. Teachers and other staff will also have lateness excused.

District officials warned families that rely on yellow buses or SEPTA of possible delays. All after-school programming, including sports, will proceed.

Archdiocese of Philadelphia high schools in the city will also reopen Thursday; however, some parochial elementary schools will remain closed for in-person instruction on a case-by-case basis due to “transportation difficulty in their neighborhoods,” according to the archdiocese.  Parents will be directly notified.
