Mayor Eddie Morán announced Wednesday afternoon that the City of Reading’s snow removal operations are actively underway following recent winter weather, with Public Works crews working around the clock to clear priority corridors, school zones, and residential connectors to ensure public safety and mobility.
“Keeping our streets safe and accessible is a top priority,” said Mayor Morán. “Our Public Works and Police teams are working tirelessly to remove snow as quickly and efficiently as possible. We ask residents to do their part by moving vehicles during scheduled snow removal so crews can do their jobs safely and thoroughly.”
Snow Removal Completed (as of today – January 28, 2026): Penn Street – 600 through 800 blocks, Cherry Street – 8th Street to 3rd Street, N. 2nd Street – 000 block, Perkiomen Avenue – 1800 through 1600 blocks, Washington Street – 900 block, N. 6th Street – Penn Street to Walnut Street, Walnut Street – 6th Street to 8th Street, N. 5th Street – Penn Street to Walnut Street and Court Street – remaining sections. Crews are continuing work on these streets today before moving on to the next scheduled locations tomorrow.
Snow Removal Operations Continuing Tomorrow
Additional crews will begin work tomorrow morning at the following locations: 7:00 AM – Crew at N. Front Street and Washington Street, working north along N. Front Street, 7:30 AM – Crew in the 400 block of Schuylkill Avenue, working south toward N. Front Street and Walnut Street, 8:00 AM – Crew at West Green Street and Schuylkill Avenue, working north along Schuylkill Avenue to West Windsor Street
Crews will also focus on: 000 block of N. 3rd Street, 200–300 blocks of N. 6th Street, Remaining sections of Court Street, 1000 block of Washington Street. Once these locations are completed, crews will continue through other streets included in the City’s snow removal plan.
Overnight/Early Morning Operations (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Overnight crews will continue clearing Snow Emergency streets, school zones, and major arterials to ensure safe travel during the winter storm.
Major Arterials and Snow Emergency Routes: North 13th Street, Spring Street, Front Street (Penn Street to Cathedral Street), Eleventh Street (Franklin Street to Walnut Street), Perkiomen Avenue, Penn Street, Washington Street (including 2nd Street from Washington to Penn), Walnut Street, North & South 5th Street, Schuylkill Avenue, Franklin Street, Kenhorst Boulevard, Lancaster Avenue and Museum Road.
School and High-Priority Safety Zones:

13th Street & Spring Street to 13th Street & Amity Street (corners and crosswalks)
Daytime Operations (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Daytime crews will focus on secondary corridors and residential connectors, including: 000 block of N. 3rd Street, 200–300 blocks of N. 6th Street, 1000 block of Washington Street, Schuylkill Avenue from Buttonwood Street to Walnut Street, 1000 block of South Parkside Drive. Overnight and daytime operations will overlap to provide continuous snow removal and ensure streets are safe around the clock.
