All Saints Orthodox Church: 211 Willow Ave., Olyphant, offers a frozen pierogi sale from 9 to 11 a.m. every Friday and 10:30 a.m. to noon every Sunday in the church basement.
Christ Episcopal Church Forest City: Delaware Street, will conduct its annual homemade soup, Welsh cookies and cabbage and noodles sale to benefit the church’s community programs. Assorted homemade soups are $5 per pint; cabbage and noodles, $7 per pint, and Welsh cookies, $7 per dozen, for sale each Friday, from 3 to 5:30 p.m., through April 3.
Rescue & Restore Church: Members of the church at 120 Willow Ave. in Olyphant, the former Holy Ghost Parish, residents of the Valley, veterans or anyone wishing to support the church may preserve their family name or history on a beautifully designed memorial plaque inside the church for posterity. Sacred Heart of Jesus Church: hosts a food giveaway from 1 to 2 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month. Giveaways are sponsored by Friends of the Poor and take place in the attached Holy Family Hall, 1101 Willow St., Peckville.
SS. Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church: Pysanky classes, Feb. 22 and March 1, pick either noon or 3 p.m., at St. Cyril’s Parish Hall, 207 River St., Olyphant. St. James St. George Episcopal Church: 398 Washington Ave., Jermyn, hosts a food pantry from 1 to 2 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of the month. The church will also hold its Everything Homemade Pasta Dinner on Jan. 31 from noon to 4 p.m. Dinner is takeout-only. Donation is $15. Tickets available from any member or at the door. Trinity Episcopal Church: 58 River St., Carbondale, is having a homemade soup sale until sold out; chicken noodle, Italian wedding, pasta fagioli, beef barley and cabbage roll are available. Lynnette’s Twirlerettes accepting new students: The baton twirling group is accepting new students for the upcoming spring and summer season during the month of January. NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade bus trip: The Double “R” Twirlettes will sponsor a trip to the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 17. Designed for beginners, this hands-on workshop introduces the fundamentals of electrical work in a supportive and encouraging environment. Eco-friendly workshop teaches participants how to start seeds outdoors during winter using recycled plastic milk jugs as mini-greenhouses. WingFest XIX: The Volunteer Hose Company of Throop will host its annual WingFest XIX fundraiser Super Bowl Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the fire hall, 401 Dunmore St., Throop. For a $15 donation, each wing order includes blue cheese and celery. A special Party Pan deal, featuring 50 wings for a $60 donation, will also be offered. In addition to wings, draft beer will be available inside the hall; consumption permitted in hall only. Raffle baskets and gift card raffles. Proceeds will be used for station and equipment upkeep.
