Children’s dental event: Fortis Institute’s “Give Kids A Smile” event, Feb. 16, noon-6 p.m., Scranton campus, 517 Ash St. The event is part of a national initiative dedicated to helping children build lifelong oral health habits. Children ages 1-17 can receive oral health education and select preventive treatments, including screening exams, X-rays, fluoride varnish and dental sealants under the supervision of a licensed dentist. Attendees can participate in hands-on demonstrations using teeth models to practice proper brushing and flossing techniques and explore stations with educational materials and activities designed to make dental visits fun and comfortable. Participants will also receive oral care products and samples to take home to support healthy habits.
