Public and Catholic schools in Philadelphia will remain closed for in-person classes Wednesday, officials announced Tuesday afternoon.
The School District of Philadelphia said learning will continue virtually, with all afterschool athletics and activities canceled. Catholic elementary and high schools within city limits will operate on a “Flexible Instruction Day,” according to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
School buildings have been shuttered since a winter storm dumped more than 9 inches of snow and ice on the region Sunday. Bitterly cold temperatures have followed and are forecast to remain in the area for the remainder of the week.
