It’s been a busy week for local public works crews across our region as they do their best to clean up massive amounts of snow from the roads, and the cold temperatures aren’t making things any easier.

The work continues across our area to clean up after Sunday’s storm.

In Allentown, the department of public works spent much of Wednesday on the city’s west side. While some roads have been cleaned up quite a bit, parking remains tricky.

“It’s bad, bad outside, my friend she had her car right here, she had to park in another parking spot, you know?” said one Allentown resident.

In Emmaus, it’s a similar story.

Crews have been working around the clock doing their best to keep things clear.

“We are now in clean up mode and removal mode so we’re trying to get around the business district right now and some of those other crucial areas where there’s some high traffic volume,” said Shane Pepe, Borough Manager of Emmaus.

Some business owners say they’re happy with what they’ve seen so far, but that there’s still some work to be done.

“I think in general they did really well this storm considering how much we got. The roads were cleared pretty quickly. It’s taking a while to get all the parking spots cleared along the roads, but in general we’ve been able to navigate pretty well and I’m happy with it,” said Jim Yergey, Owner, Yergey Brewing.
