ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The sounds of blues will fill the city of Allentown this weekend, as The Lehigh River Blues Jam returns, after selling out last year!

Founder, promoter, and performer Bev Conklin visited 69 News at Sunrise Thursday morning to tell us what’s on tap this weekend.

Lehigh River Blues Jam will take place from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Days Hotel, just across from the Lehigh Valley International Airport. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. Conklin said an after party will take place after the performances.

The event will feature Slam Allen, Kevin Burt, the Dave Keller Band, the Bobby Kyle Band with Dave Keyes, and BC Blue featuring Bev Conklin with guest Dane Tilghman.

Conklin said the event, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, began at a park in Catasauqua in the summertime.

The blues community is very strong in the Lehigh Valley, Conklin said. The Lehigh Valley also features other blues events, such as the Blues, Brews, and BBQ event in Allentown and the Blast Furnace Blues Festival in Bethlehem.

“Music is the therapy, the healer, and it brings the community together,” she said.
