Abington Heights used a big third quarter to pull away from Delaware Valley for a 72-50 win Thursday in Lackawanna League Division I boys basketball.
Leading by five at halftime, the No. 3 Comets outscored the No. 8 Warriors in the third, 15-5, to extend their advantage to double digits. Andrew Kettel had five points in the quarter, Jordan Shaffer four points while Finn Goldberg and Cooper Manning each hit 3-pointers.
Shaffer finished with 21 points for Abington Heights (9-0 league, 12-5 overall). Goldberg followed with 19.
Trey Newton led Delaware Valley (3-6, 10-7) with 13 points and Tyler Lombardo added 11 points.
Valley View 58, Wallenpaupack 22: At Wallenpaupack, Valley View limited the host Buckhorns to two points in each of the final three quarters to breeze to a Lackawanna Division I win.
Michael Muto led the No. 5 Cougars (8-2, 16-2) with 23 points. Cash Roe added 15, all of which came in the first half.
Diego Adames scored six points in the first quarter for Wallenpaupack (2-7, 6-10). Nick VanBuskirk also finished with six points.
Scranton Prep 87, North Pocono 55: At North Pocono, Packy Doherty helped Scranton Prep jump out to a fast start in its Lackawanna Division I victory.
Doherty scored 14 of his 29 points in the first quarter as the Classics raced to a 30-16 lead after eight minutes.
Jimmy Doherty and Brody Martin each added 12 points for No. 4 Scranton Prep (8-1, 13-4) and Luke Flanagan contributed 11 points.
Cole West led the Trojans (1-9, 4-14) with 24 points and six rebounds. Anthony Maros and Cael Hafner had 10 points apiece.
Honesdale 84, Western Wayne 64: At Honesdale, Levi Martin led three players in double figures with 20 points as the Hornets notched a high-scoring Lackawanna Division II win over Western Wayne.
Martin and Gavin Briggs each scored 11 points in the first half to help Honesdale (3-6, 7-10) build a 42-33 lead at halftime. Briggs finished with 15 points and Carter Schweighofer chipped in 10 points.
Damian Glackin had a game-high 26 points for the Wildcats (0-9, 3-14). Jacob Lawlor followed with 11 points.
Old Forge 54, Lakeland 51: At Old Forge, Logan Fanning scored 18 points, had 12 rebounds, and three blocks to lead the sixth-ranked Blue Devils to a win in Lackawanna Division II.
Cameron Parker added 15 points and Ryan DeMarco scored 12 for the Blue Devils (7-3, 12-5).
Chase Rosenkrans scored 17 points and David Naniewicz added 14 to lead Lakeland (2-7, 7-10).
Holy Cross 69, Mid Valley 47: At Mid Valley, Adam Badyrka hit five 3-pointers and scored 19 points in the first half to help Holy Cross down Mid Valley in Lackawanna Division II.
Badyrka finished with 25 points. C.J. Thompson added 21 points for the No. 9 Crusaders (6-4, 10-8) and Colin Farrell contributed 14 points.
Landon Pratt led the Spartans (3-7, 7-11) with 20 points.
Susquehanna 59, Forest City 32: At Forest City, Griffin Fisk scored 15 points to lead four players in double figures for the Sabers in a Lackawanna Division III win.
Linden Baker scored 14 points, Hudson Stengel had 11, and Mason Keyes scored 10 for the No. 10 Sabers (9-1, 14-4).
Jaxon Owens scored nine points to lead Forest City (0-18. 0-10).
Lackawanna Trail 65, Mountain View 43: At Mountain View, Logan Seigle led a balanced attack for the Lions by scoring 18 points in a Lackawanna Division III win.
Lucas Filipek scored 14 with eight in the third quarter, and Hayden Bluhm added 13 for Lackawanna Trail (8-2, 13-4).
Hudson Bain scored 13 and Jordan Jagger added 11 for Mountain View (2-8, 4-13).
Pocono Mountain West 62, Scranton Prep 53: Aydin Smith scored 21 points and KJ Coles added 15 to lead PM West to a nonleague win over the Cavaliers on Wednesday night.
Packy Doherty and Brody Martin each scored 19 points for Scranton Prep (12-4).
