Upper Darby police were dispatched for a fight with shots fired, and gave this account:
Units found a large group of people in the street with multiple vehicles leaving the scene. A crime scene was established and was monitored by patrol officers until detectives arrived on scene to process the scene.
Two spent 9 mm shell casings were located in the middle of the Ludlow Street at the intersection with Heather Road and another 9 mm shell casing was located on the sidewalk in front of 6802 Ludlow Street.
A wig and several pieces of women’s jewelry were found on the sidewalk near the bar door. A bullet hole was observed in the front window of 15 Kent Road, Apt 2, that was occupied at the time by a couple and their child.
A projectile was recovered inside the apartment, where it passed through the living room wall and came to rest on the kitchen floor.
Police conducted interviews with witnesses and collected surveillance video from the Waterford Inn.
Surveillance footage shows the victim inside of the bar. She calls a friend for a ride and walks outside withthe bartenders as they were leaving and locking the doors for the night.
When the victim walked outside, she was attacked by two Black females and a Black male.
The females were pulling and punching the victim while other bar patrons attempted to stop the assault.
The male was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and light gray sweatpants. He appeared to have a heavy object in his front right pocket consistent with a firearm.
The victim told police that she was attacked by Shanay Warren and Shanika Warren, who were accompanied by their brother, Michael Warren, who is also the victim’s ex-boyfriend.
She stated the sisters ripped off her wig and kicked and punched her, and her iPhone 16 Pro Max was smacked out of her hand.
The victim stated she ran across the street and jumped into the passenger side of her friend’s vehicle.
As she sat in the vehicle, the sisters refused to let her close the doors as they continued to punch her in the face.
The victim screamed for her friend to pull away, so he did, and that’s when they heard a gunshot and saw Warren holding a firearm and fire off a shot.
Video footage was viewed and showed Warren run onto the sidewalk on Ludlow Street and fire off a round at the fleeing vehicle in the area where the spent 9 mm shell casing was found.
Police researched Warren’s criminal history and learned that Michael Warren was convicted of aggravated assault, which is an enumerated offense making him a person unable to possess a firearm in Pennsylvania, the investigation showed.
Township police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt was exasperated:
“What began as an argument between two women escalated into a violent family affair involving multiple people attacking our victim, kicking, punching, and pulling her hair. Then, the victim’s brother decided it would be a good idea to pull out a gun and shoot at the victim’s vehicle. Absolute stupidity and unacceptable.
“It’s actions like this that place everyone in our community at risk. We will not tolerate it, and anyone involved in this type of behavior will be arrested and charged accordingly.”
