BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The ice and snow also meant a chilly reception for Bethlehem’s annual Winter Restaurant Week.
Not surprisingly, patrons have been staying home. But there’s good news tonight.
Winter Restaurant Week in Historic Downtown Bethlehem has been extended after this week’s weather put a damper on things.
The frigid temperatures and snowy terrain have slowed down the week, a time that’s meant to give local eateries a boost.
“So the first few days of Restaurant Week were very light for us obviously with the massive amount of snow we did get, it was very difficult for people to get down here,” says Rachel Griffith, owner of Apollo Grill.
Because of this, the initiative is being extended through February 5th, with participating establishments offering specials at lunch, brunch and dinner.
“We have these excellent Apollo Grill meatballs and they’re served over polenta,” says Griffith.
“One of the specials that we’re really excited about and we’re gonna bring out for the folks to see is our Dutch baby,” said Karen Wildrick, chief operating officer at Edge Restaurant. “A Dutch baby is a pancake done in a skillet which kind of resembles a Yorkshire pudding and or a popover.”
Lots of options and lots of ways to support small businesses.
“This is our slow time of year, we just got off of Christmas, which Bethlehem turns into more of like a tourist town, so Restaurant Week is important for us small business owners as January is a slower month for us so it’s important to have our local community come out and support your small businesses,” said Widrick.
