A fire displaced two people Thursday night in Allentown.
Firefighters were called about 10 p.m. to the 900 block of West Gordon Street for a report of a house fire, according to a city fire department news release. They arrived and found flames coming from the second-floor front windows, and were given reports that someone was trapped.
Crews made an “aggressive attack” inside the home while firefighters searched for the reportedly trapped person, according to the release. That person was found outside, and had left the house themselves, the fire department said.
The fire was brought under control about two hours later, and firefighters stayed on the scene to make sure hotspots were extinguished. City police kept the area clear for firefighters, and paramedics helped residents and firefighters at the scene. The city streets department was also called in because of the icy conditions, according to the release.
No residents or firefighters were injured, however, one dog died in the fire.
The two people displaced are staying with relatives. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
