Allentown firefighters responded to a house fire Saturday morning on the city’s South Side.
Fire officials struck a third alarm on the blaze, which spread to an adjoining house, on the 600 block of South Sixth Street, near the intersection with Lehigh and Auburn streets.
Videos taken by a freelance photographer at the scene show flames shooting out of the top story of one of the houses. Thick smoke billowing from the blaze could be seen throughout the area, according to photos shared to social media.
Jon Hammel, captain of public affairs for the Allentown Fire Department, confirmed the address of the incident but had no further details.
The fire broke out as temperatures were in the single-digits Saturday morning.
