LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa. – Omy Maldonado announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the 14th Senatorial District, according to a press release from the candidate.
The 14th Senatorial District represents Lehigh and Northampton Counties.
As a native Lehigh Valley resident, Omy Maldonado is a husband, father, volunteer youth coach and a Marine Corps veteran who honorably served eight years with two deployments overseas, the release says. Maldonado attended the University of South Carolina Beaufort, receiving his undergraduate degree in 2017, and in 2021 graduated from Saint Joseph’s University with an MBA.
After his service, Maldonado says he experienced the challenges many working families face—relying briefly on unemployment benefits and state Medicaid as he worked to get back on his feet. He volunteers as a youth coach in football, basketball and baseball.
“I’m running for the State Senate because families like mine are working hard, doing everything right, and still being left behind—struggling just to make ends meet,” said Maldonado.
Maldonado said his campaign will focus on affordability, responsible government, and accountability in Harrisburg. He emphasized the importance of policies that allow families to build stable lives without being taxed out of their livelihoods.
“Families across our district want to work hard, afford their lives, and provide for their children—and they deserve representation that understands the same pressures they’re facing.”
