The Free Library of Philadelphia has announced a Black History Month program series throughout February. This series will feature workshops, author appearances, and hands-on STEM activities at Free Library branches across the city.

Several highlights of the series include the following, all to be held at the Cecil B. Moore Library, 2320 Cecil B. Moore Ave., in Philadelphia.

Author Jamilah Thompkins-Bigelow will lead a special storytime on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. for Abdul’s Story.Artist Doriana Diaz will lead “Collage as Healing for Black History Month” on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 1 p.m. This art workshop focuses on reflection and collective creativity through collage and bookmaking.The Black Inventors Builders Lab is set for Thursday, Feb. 12, at 3:30 p.m. It will offer hands-on activities to spotlight Black innovators, followed by a STEM-focused Builders Lab on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 3:30 p.m.

According to a PhillyVoice report, these events make up the centerpiece series “Our Roots Reach Further: 1776 to Tomorrow.” Through these programs, individuals will encounter Black history and culture through hands-on workshops, storytelling, and programs highlighting innovation, healing, and creative expression.
