Easton restaurant chefs with a fire chili recipe will have the chance to compete for a cash prize.

The annual Easton Chili Cookoff will return from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8, at the Bank Street Annex, according to a press release from the Greater Easton Development Partnership. The annual event began in 1994 at Pearly Baker’s Alehouse and has since become a recurring pre-Super Bowl tradition.

The event brings together local restaurant chefs to compete for People’s Choice and Judges’ Choice awards, along with cash prizes. Mueller’s General Store and Kitchen has won the Judges’ Choice award two years in a row, and Porters’ Pub received the People’s Choice award last year.

The cookoff is a gathering that invites residents and visitors to sample a variety of chili styles, from mild to spicy, while supporting Easton’s food scene, according to the press release.

“This event is all about friendly competition and community pride, and of course delicious chili,” Jared Mast, executive director at the Greater Easton Development Partnership said.

While Pearly Baker’s Alehouse historically hosted the event, this year marks the first time GEDP will take over.

For those who want to spectate and taste some chili, tickets purchased in advance cost $7, while day-of tickets will be $10. Find tickets here.
