There could be some very light snow Friday ahead of another round of “brutally cold” temperatures in the Lehigh Valley.
A system is expected to make its way through the area Friday. Very little to no accumulation is expected; however, the system could bring dangerous snow squalls, which would reduce visibility and could create hazardous driving conditions, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey. An arctic front will follow that system bringing highs into the teens both Saturday and Sunday, forecasters said.
Wind chills will likely be below zero over the weekend, and the lowest wind chills of the year are possible Saturday. Wind gusts between 40-45 mph are possible Saturday, and a minimum wind chill of minus-16 is expected that night.

The Lehigh Valley could get a reprieve from the bitter cold after nearly two weeks of freezing or below freezing temperatures: The weather service’s climate prediction center said temperatures are likely going to be above normal over the next two weeks or so. Precipitation chances are normal during that time period, forecasters said.
Both Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be above freezing, which should help melt some of the snow lingering from a record snowstorm last month. Additionally, there is a chance of rain Wednesday.
Here is the extended forecast from the National Weather Service:
Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 30. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph.
Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 16. Blustery, with a northwest wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 18.
Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 28.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 34.
Wednesday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
