SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — It’s been two days since the fire at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Dickson City and while ice has been cleared and new barricades put up around the scene, the timetable for the cleanup of the rubble is unknown. Many things are still unknown including the cause of the blaze but DePietro’s Pharmacy in Dunmore is hoping to help ease some headaches.

Patients that normally picked up prescriptions from the hospital are now able to get their prescriptions filled at DePietro’s. Staff said that helping the community is part of their mission and after clearing logistics, a handful of people have already been in the store to pick up their meds.

“Their insurance typically would only work at the hospital, but they’ve put a plan in place that we can contact people down at, I believe it’s Allentown, at the hospital down there,” explained DePietro’s pharmacist Michele Pusateri. “They will put in overrides so patients can continue to get their medications filled in a timely manner.”

DePietro’s said that if anyone needs their prescription filled from the hospital to give them a call and that they expect to continue filling necessary meds until the hospital is back up and running.
