PITTSBURGH, PA —A Pittsburgh man’s relative called 911 Saturday morning to report that he was threatening to set his Brookline home on fire and was pouring lighter fluid throughout the home on a FaceTime call.
According to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, when police and firefighters arrived at the home in the 1500 block of Ballinger Street, they found the man barricaded inside the home. The man eventually surrendered and when officers entered the residence they found smoke and flames coming from a doorway.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze as the man, who had two weapons on him, was taken into custody and is expected to face charges.
Although no one was harmed in the incident, the residence is considered a loss. One cat died, however, and one dog was rescued from the backyard.
The home’s remaining residents will be staying with relatives.
